Poker is a combination of skill and luck. The more skilled you are, the luckier you get.

You can play popular poker games, including Caribbean Stud Poker, Jacks or Better, Aces and Faces, Deuces and Jokers, All American Poker, Texas Hold 'em, Omaha Hi, and Tens or Better at top-tier online casinos, and even online video poker remains a popular favorite. These games are full of fun, with unique rules and pay tables. Let's examine the major rule differences between these popular poker variants.

Caribbean Stud Poker

Caribbean Stud poker is a game of chance, with no skill required. The objective is to beat the dealer's hand by having a higher five-card hand. The game is played with a single deck of 52 cards, with no wild cards. Caribbean Stud poker also has a progressive jackpot that can be won by hitting a Royal Flush.

Jacks or Better

Jacks or Better is also a chance-based game, with limited skill required. The objective is to get a better hand than the dealer by having a higher five-card hand. The game is played with a single deck of 52 cards, with no wild cards. Jacks or Better sometimes has a progressive jackpot 5/8 Jacks or Better, but rarely on a 6/9 Jacks or Better when players hit a Royal Flush.

Aces and Faces

You guessed it! Aces and Faces is a game of chance. You can control your budget and the cards you choose to hold or fold with all video poker variants. The objective is to get a higher hand than the dealer by having a higher five-card hand. The game is played with a single deck of 52 cards, with no wild cards.

Aces or Faces adds a new twist to video poker. Four aces are more valuable than straight flushes, so it is worth keeping an eye out for aces rather than trying to get straight flushes. Additionally, four of any face cards pay more than four of any other number of cards. All other payouts are the same as in Jacks or Better.

Deuces and Jokers

Deuces and Jokers is played with two decks of 54 cards each (including two jokers), for 108 total cards. Deuces (2s) are wild in this variant. Deuces and Jokers also has several different side bets that can be made, including one for hitting five of a kind (which pays out at 100 to 1).

All American Poker

All American Poker is similar to Jacks or Better, but the payouts are slightly different since it uses an alternate pay table designed to offer bigger payouts for straights, flushes, full houses, and four-of-a-kinds (as compared to two pair or three-of-a-kind hands). Also, like Jacks or Better, All American Poker uses one deck of 52 cards, with no wild cards in effect.

Texas Hold 'em Poker

Texas Hold'em is the most popular form of poker today. It's considered both skill and luck-based game. In Texas Hold 'em, each player gets two hole cards (dealt face down), then five community cards are dealt face up in the middle of the table for all players to share/use. Players make their best 5-card hand using any combination of their two hole cards + the five community cards.

Betting occurs between rounds as players attempt to bluff or raise the stakes. The final round of betting occurs after the river card (the 5th community card) has been dealt. Texas Hold 'em championship games at the WSOP routinely yield massive paydays.

Omaha Hi

Omaha Hi resembles Texas Hold 'em, except each player starts with four hole cards instead of 2. Also, instead of 5 community cards, there are only three flop cards & 4 total community cards overall (Flop + Turn + River), just like Texas Hold'em. Again, players must make their best 5-card hands using any combination from their 4 hole cards + 3 Flop cards (or Turn & River). Like in Texas Hold 'em, betting occurs between rounds as players attempt to bluff or raise stakes.
